Favorite Easter Gift: 2 of 3

Cute, right? Wanna know something even cuter? My mom actually heard me bitching about my clock and my desire for a new one, remembered that there was a sports team that I was oh, I don't know, obsessed with, and actually went out to the mean streets of B'more and located the clock above. It's not exactly Red Sox nation where I'm from (though people mostly couldn't care less about the O!s), and yet little-molly's-mom found a Red Sox clock for her daughter.

I dunno, it's just precious.

"Mike Dukakis eyebrows"

Gimmie, Gimmie More

My man is a Bud man.
If loving Papelbon is wrong, than I don't want to be right. And seeing him drinking a Bud next to MVP Lowell... even better.

"I have a Papel-boner!"

I cannot, will not say it better than this:

It's All Over in Colorado: Sox Win World Series, Beat Rockies 4-3

Oct 29, 2007:

Four-Gone Conclusion!

Jonathan Papelbon of the Boston Red Sox celebrates after winning Game Four by a score of the 4-3 to win the 2007 Major League Baseball World Series in a four game sweep of the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on October 28, 2007 in Denver, Colorado.

"As if the month of October had killed his dog"

I'm an anxiety addict - I admit it. I like when things are slightly uncomfortable, mildly inappropriate, and wholy low-brow. I like to pretend to be shocked!, appalled!, and mortified! by controversial behavior, but really, I revel in it.

"C" is for cookie... it's also for "choke." Just sayin'...

So, while I enjoyed last night's Game 1 of the World Series (and who wouldn't enjoy a 13-1 beat down?), it didn't give me anxiety. It didn't make me nervous. I didn't feel like vomiting. I didn't have trouble concentrating. I wasn't on the edge of my seat: unable to concentrate or focus. I didn't have trouble breathing. Nope - Not even a little. So, I guess I'm saying I was a smidge bored, and looking for some drama (like a moth to a flame).

I like the Bostonist's take on Bad Boy Beckett:

Every aspect of this game went Boston's way. The starting pitching was a mismatch, as Francis, the Rockies' putative ace, lasted just four innings, while Josh Beckett continued to pitch as if the month of October had killed his dog. Seven innings, one run, nine strikeouts (including five of the first six Rockies to come to the plate), and no pressure at all.

Righto. It displeases me greatly when people act as though the reason the Rockies lost 13-1 was because of "all that" time off. Please. 8 days. No one buys that, except perhaps Tim McCarver - which is just embarrassing for YOU if you buy into it.

So now it's up to Schilling... and good-ole-bloody-sock has me on the edge of my seat... in other words... happy.

Another flip-flop for Giuliani

What big flip-flops you have!

Mr. "America's Mayor" himself has declared that he's cheering for the Red Sox. Say what? He's a well-known-long-time Yankees fan (eww, my fingers just burned when I typed that), and everyone knows it. So what, pray tell, is his reasoning?
"I am an American league fan."

Riiiiight. I'm sure it has nothing to do with being in Boston today, and New Hampshire later today to - you guessed it - fundraise. Jonathan Martin notes that similar logic implies that:
...Auburn fans would cheer for 'Bama in the BCS, Dookies for Tar Heels in the Final Four and Skins backers for the Cowboys in the Super Bowl.

Not. Going. To. Happen.

To be fair, Giuliani claims:
"I am not just saying that because I am in Massachusetts. If I am in Colorado in the next week or two you will see that I have the courage to tell the people of Colorado the same thing."

Again, I say riiiiight. But something tells me you won't be in Colorado until after the Red Sox sweep the Rockies so, yeah. Run with it, Rudy. Raise those New England dollars as fast as you can.

a thumpin'

While gloating isn't my style (yeah, right), I would be remiss if I didn't mention the fabulous thumpin' the Red Sox delivered to the Indians.

Fat and dirty, just like I like 'em.

"I think when you're in this kind of pressure cooker, you can either fold or implode or you can relax and be yourself," said general manager Theo Epstein. "That's what our guys do. None of the circumstances bother them."

Word. I find that the Red Sox and I are similar in that way. NOT. I also enjoyed Millar's visit back to Fenway and delivery of the lineup. He cracks me up, and still reminds me of one, Crickie Thomas.

Ohh, and Papelbon's encore Riverdance performance? Priceless.

"Always, ALWAYS, get chili on your nachos bell grande"

(I hate that commercial)

Turns out, I hate a lot of things. Last night I realized that I keep saying that a lot. "I hate that commercial," "I hate stupid people," "I hate Pepsi," "I hate FOX," and "I hate Tim McCarver" are the first 5 things that come to mind, and that's really only the first hour. Terribly unattractive, no? I even brought me down. So I'm going to have to go ahead and try and fix that.

I was thinking about it today on a car drive home, and decided that I should come up with a list of at least ten things that I love... ten things that I love, but perhaps never realized or never vocalized. So, here you go:
  1. I love October - the leaves, the weather, the treetops, the smell, and Halloween. I love it all.
  2. I love iced tea - OL pointed it out to me last weekend, and I was a smidge confused, but it's true. I love it. Unsweetened, with lemon, without, Pom, Green, Oolong, Black. Whatevs. Bring. It. On.
  3. I love the scenery of western Maryland - Turns out, it's a beautiful drive.
  4. Okay, I may even love the scenery of that bit of Pennsylvania between western Maryland and Breezewood. Might.
  5. I love Sheetz - and this is a love that cannot be properly conveyed. I don't love it more than Sonic, but their pretzel bread is fabulous. And their motto is "Live fast, eat well." Not exactly fast-food appropriate, but certainly words to live by. I approve.
  6. I love living in DC - and nothing makes that more clear than when I'm driving back home after being away.
  7. I love wedding dress shopping for other people - and that one is self-explanatory.
  8. I love the Red Sox - not exactly an Earth-shattering revelation, but watching them these past few weeks with friends has really been fun.
  9. I love J.D. Drew - even though he's not the one we thought looks like Teddy.
  10. Finally, I love me some Americana - diners, filling (better known as "stuffing" or "dressing"), and (duh) baseball.
After performing this karmariffic duty, I felt my chi change and I sang all the way home - happy as a clam.

Now I'm waiting on the Sox to take it to the World Series. Sheesh.

Oh Come On!

Seriously?!
Danielle Peck, a country music singer who also happened to date Red Sox ace
pitcher Josh Beckett, will sing the national anthem and "God Bless America" at tonight's Game 5 in Cleveland. Beckett is scheduled to start the game for Boston.

"It's an incredible coincidence. Honestly," said Indians spokesman Bob DiBiasio.

Seriously.

"This guy threw out his own son in a father son game."

Think happy thoughts. Think happy thoughts.

The Boston Dirt Dogs are really giving it to Manny - as well they should. This whole thing makes me nervous. My tummy hurts. I need to lay off of the caffeine:

Papelbon breaks it down

These guys are my heroes.
